Biography
Loizos Heracleous is Professor of Strategy and Organization at Warwick Business School and a Fellow of the Saïd Business School and of Green Templeton College at Oxford University. He researchers, teaches and consult in areas related to strategy and organization development.
Loizos’ research has been published in over 100 papers in periodicals including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, and Strategic Management Journal. He has also published in leading applied journals including the Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review and California Management Review. He has authored 10 books on strategy with publishers such as Cambridge University Press and Sage.
Loizos serves on the editorial board of three journals including the Academy of Management Journal. His research received a number of awards including three best paper awards from the Academy of Management.
Loizos’ research has been recognized by an annual Stanford University study (Ioannides et al.) from 2020 to the present as being in the top 2% of scientists globally based on citation impact of his writings. Further, ScholarGPS placed Loizos in the top 0.18% of its overall global ranking of scientists in business and management based on the impact, productivity and quality of his work (https://scholargps.com/scholars/80673560537397/loizos-heracleous).
Loizos comments often in leading business media. He has lived in 5 countries and worked in many more. He has worked closely with senior leaders of blue-chip corporations and public sector agencies, in both developed and emerging economies, with organizations such as NASA, IBM, Daimler, Allianz, MAN, the Bank of China, Emirates Institute of Finance, Central Bank of the UAE, Abu Dhabi Global Market, Aviva, O2, Rolls Royce, Serco, Tata, Glenmark, Standard Chartered Bank, Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Singapore Institute of Directors.
Loizos’ multi-year work with NASA assisted the agency in conceptualizing its new role in a space industry where commercial space dominates, as outlined among other sources, in the Harvard Business Review article The Reinvention of NASA. Loizos earned his PhD in Strategic Management from the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, and a Higher Doctorate (DSc) for lifetime contributions to his field from the University of Warwick.
