What we’re looking for
This programme is suitable for professionals working in the banking, financial or related professional services sector who are looking to evidence their knowledge, gain insight and develop their career.
Our participants come from a range of companies and organisations within central banking, commercial and retail banking, financial auditing and financial regulation sectors.
Entry requirements
- Experience - You must possess previous relevant work experience within the banking and financial regulation sector

Academic record - You must have an upper second class honours degree at undergraduate level from a UK university or the equivalent from an overseas university
However, applications are also welcomed from candidates who do not have the academic qualifications but possess demonstrable experience of working in banking and financial regulation at a level sufficient with the requirements of the course.
Data and finance are used throughout the programme and practitioners often use some modelling to make their points. Therefore students need to be comfortable with statistical data and some maths. Maths booster materials are available for any student who feels they would benefit. The standard required is not high, all that is needed is a willingness to engage.
English language requirements
If English is not your first language, you must meet a minimum overall standard in a recognised test of English, examples are shown below. You must show a good balance across all sections of the test and it must have been taken within two years of starting the course. We will require your certificates as evidence.

References: We require one professional reference from your line manager. Your referee should be able to comment on your key competencies and skills. We do not accept references from family members or friends.
Your file will be reviewed by the Selection Committee and once they have made a decision we will contact you. If you have been successful you will receive an offer letter and be required to complete the offer response form confirming your decision within 4 weeks.
Experience: The course is primarily aimed at those currently working in the banking and financial regulation industries or the related professional services and your application will therefore be strengthened based on the length and level of previous relevant work experience.
We are however, happy to consider applications from candidates with a less traditional background who demonstrate the drive and academic capability to succeed on the programme.
Technical requirements: The MSc in Global Banking and Financial Regulation is delivered 100% online and incorporates online text, multimedia, discussion forums and live webinar sessions. You will therefore require a stable and relatively high speed internet connection, an up-to-date web browser, the ability to listen to sound (a headset or speakers), and a microphone for taking part in live online webinars and group work. You can access the content of the programme on many devices, including desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile.
If you intend to access the programme from a workplace you should ensure that you will not have access restricted by organisational firewalls or policies.
