From the very first session of the LeadershipPlus module, it became clear that this was not going to be a conventional classroom experience. Instead of lectures and passive learning, we were invited to step into the arena: challenged to lead, to reflect, and most importantly, to grow.
Coming into the Full-time MBA at Warwick Business School with experience in social enterprise and project delivery, I thought I had a decent grasp of leadership. But LeadershipPlus stripped away the surface-level understanding and replaced it with something far more personal and profound. This wasn’t just about learning leadership frameworks, it was about examining who I am as a leader, and why I lead the way I do.
A key element of this transformation was the Spotlight profile. Reading through my results was like holding up a mirror: it not only helped me understand my preferred behaviours under pressure but also revealed blind spots I hadn't been fully aware of. These insights became even more valuable when tested in real-time during team-based exercises and simulations, where theory met the unpredictability of group dynamics.
The coaching sessions and peer feedback loops were another standout of the module. They pushed me to pause, reflect, and recalibrate. Whether it was handling tension in team discussions or navigating ambiguity during simulations, the module consistently reminded me that leadership is rarely about having the “right” answer. It's about how we show up in moments of uncertainty, and how we make others feel seen and empowered.
What makes LeadershipPlus particularly unique is its long-term structure;, it doesn't end after one intense term. It runs in parallel with the MBA, nudging us to apply and refine our leadership approach over time, and across various contexts. As a result, I now see leadership not as a title or role, but as a practice—one that I can continuously improve, grounded in self-awareness and purpose.
In short, LeadershipPlus has been one of the most personally meaningful parts of my MBA so far. It’s helped me move beyond transactional leadership and toward something more intentional and human. And in doing so, it has reshaped how I lead today, and how I hope to lead tomorrow.

One of the first core modules introduced in the MBA was LeadershipPlus. Having attended leadership sessions in the past, I expected a traditional classroom experience filled with theories and lectures. It turned out to be anything but conventional. This module isn’t about learning leadership from a textbook, it’s about experiencing it firsthand.
Through a mix of self-reflection, real-world scenarios, and interactive exercises, it pushes you to examine your strengths, biases, and working styles. We started with a Spotlight profile analysis, which helped us understand our innate behaviours and preferred ways of working. This was followed by a group survival simulation, which provided practical insight into how core behaviours influence team dynamics and effectiveness.
As I progressed through the course, I realised that leadership is at the heart of the MBA journey, particularly while working in groups. The cohort's diverse cultural backgrounds also brought a variety of leadership styles to life. Every discussion and group activity was an opportunity to understand different perspectives and a masterclass in adaptability. I learned to listen first and then lead—strengthening my ability to collaborate in diverse settings.
As I applied these insights beyond the module, I began to see how they shaped my leadership identity. I had always aspired to inspire and influence those around me, and the coaching workshop played a pivotal role in this journey. It opened my eyes to the power of asking open-ended questions and active listening, skills that will stay with me for a lifetime. The whole experience has changed my perspective on driving meaningful conversations and engaging with others.
Beyond teamwork and group dynamics, LeadershipPlus also helped redefine my personal brand as a leader. The module’s emphasis on personal growth through self-awareness enabled me to identify my core values. It deepened my understanding of what matters to me and how to nurture those values to lead authentically.
LeadershipPlus is a transformative experience that will undoubtedly challenge you. It will stretch you far beyond your comfort zone and unsettle assumptions you didn’t know you held. But if you’re ready to truly understand what it takes to lead, it’s an experience you won’t forget. As I continue my MBA journey and beyond, I know these lessons will shape not only how I lead but also how I empower others to do the same.

The more you grow within a company or business, the more you realise that soft skills play a critical role in how you deliver projects and how they are received—whether by clients, company leadership, or co-workers.
I chose the WBS Full-time MBA not only for its academic recognition but also for its emphasis on leadership-focused modules, such as LeadershipPlus.
The module has given me the chance to better understand my strengths and weaknesses and to learn how to adapt my communication style to connect with different personality types.
One of the most impactful aspects of the module is the opportunity to engage with your group, challenge your personal values, examine the stories you tell yourself, and receive feedback on how you collaborate within a team. These conversations encourage deep reflection on why we behave in certain ways and offer alternative perspectives. Interacting with classmates from diverse nationalities and professional backgrounds has been incredibly valuable, broadening my horizons and allowing me to learn from their experiences.
This module not only encourages reflection but also emphasises putting what you’ve learned into practice. One of my favourite activities has been the “Hard Conversations” exercise, where we had to choose a real-life situation that required confronting someone. Professional actors played the other party, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the methodology while experiencing the dynamics of a real interaction. Everyone in that class would agree that it was challenging, but having the opportunity to practice such conversations in a safe environment was invaluable.
In my view, leadership is not something we reserve for formal titles like CEO or Corporate Director—it’s something we exercise daily in our interactions. We all have influence, and how we choose to use it is up to us. Having the chance to learn from professionals such as the Mindflick team has been a significant advantage. Their experience working with high-performance organisations, schools, and companies has enriched the stories and lessons we’ve gained about leadership.
I look forward to carrying these lessons into the classroom and applying them in my everyday life.
