Leadership for a Complex World

In today's rapidly changing and interconnected world, the ability to navigate complexity is crucial. We recognise that the world of work is changing exponentially, from climate change to revolutionary developments in new technologies, impacting all organisations in various ways. As business leaders, we aspire to build organisations that are as nimble as change itself. However, research shows that most change programmes fail, with many organisations going out of business not because they are outcompeted, but because they fail to adapt, remaining internally-focused rather than externally-focused. This workshop will equip you with skills and knowledge to understand and manage complex systems, make informed decisions, and lead effectively in uncertain environments.

During this workshop, you will hear from WBS faculty and industry experts on the importance of adaptive leadership and how you can bring agility and adaptability to your organisation. You will gain a deeper understanding of strategy and strategic thinking, the importance of innovation capability, the degree of experimentation, leadership’s role, the capacity for learning, and the acceptance (or not) of failure. By understanding how we make choices and decisions and mitigating inherent biases, you can achieve the positive outcomes you seek.

During this workshop you will explore how your organisation can continue to perform, and over-achieve, during times of complexity. You will hear from industry experts on their experiences of maximising returns on human capital by understanding the key drivers of employee engagement, as well as how to build and adaptable and agile team. Building on the previous workshop, we will dive into the essentials of innovation, experimentation, performance, collaboration, and change agility.

A key competent of this programme is implementing the insights in your organisation and delivering actionable change. During this workshop we will ask you to share how you have implemented any of your learning from the previous session, including any blockers to success. At the end of the programme you will have been able to identify areas for innovation and experimentation in your organisation and creating a plan for how you can build a high-performing team which thrives in the face of change and complexity.
