Learn the core tools and frameworks needed for developing an effective strategy in your organisation. This Postgraduate Award delivers a practical guide to strategy while enabling you to develop a detailed understanding of the strategic advantage concept and how it can be applied to your organisation.

You will explore the key analytical concepts, frameworks and methods to use in setting a company's short and long-term direction. You will analyse the integrated approach to business to understand how distinct contributions that different functions and teams make support the overall strategic intent. You will also develop an understanding of strategic decision-making within the context of a VUCA world (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous), within which all organisations are now operating.

Duration

This Postgraduate Award will run across four days of face-to-face teaching at our London base in The Shard, with a six week window to complete your assignments.

Structure

  • Day one: Explore what is strategy and the importance of VUCA (Volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) when understanding how to develop an effective strategy. 
  • Day two: Understand tools and frameworks for business and corporate level strategies. 
  • Day three: Apply your learning to key case studies in different industries, to gain more context on how strategy is applied in the real-world.
  • Day four: Understanding the different stakeholders involved in building and implementing strategies. 

To consolidate your learning, you will complete an analysis of the strategic challenges and opportunities faced by an organisation of your choice, you will apply the tools and frameworks discussed in the module and develop a set of recommendations as to how they can be addressed.
