Strategic choices explore the executive-decision making within organisations to support their growth strategy. Many elements affect strategic decisions and the impact of those decisions.

In this Postgraduate Award, you will be able to explore what needs to be understood when making strategic decisions. You will explore the complex and dynamic context in which organisations must make their decisions and learn about the relevant strategic tools to guide them. This course covers key aspects such as mergers, acquisitions, and strategic finance. You will also develop an understanding of sustainability strategy, learning practical guidance on how your organisation can successfully navigate their particular ecosystems by mapping and understanding the strategic interests of key stakeholders.

Duration

This Postgraduate Award will run across four days of face-to-face teaching at our London base in The Shard, with a six week window to complete your assignments.

Structure

  • Day one: Explore the economic context within which companies make strategic decisions - and just how complex and dynamic that is in today's global economy!
  • Day two: Understand how good financial management is essential for organisations. Develop skills on how to make the right investment decisions and measure delivery. 
  • Day three: Explore how strategic choices impact your organisation's operations and value chains. 
  • Day four: Develop a practical understanding of how your organisation can successfully navigate their own particular ecosystems by mapping and understanding the strategic interests of key stakeholders. 

You will consolidate your learning in two assignments. You will complete an analysis of a key strategic decisions faced by a company of your choice and develop a set of recommendations as to why it is of strategic importance and how it should be addressed. You will also complete a case study analysis.

  • You will develop an understanding of merger and acquisition strategies, and how your organisation to avoid significant risks.
  • You will be able to identify key decisions in managing a global value change.
  • Develop a stakeholder map, which will enable your organisation to evaluate the interests of key political and regulatory stakeholders.
  • You will create a corporate responsibility strategy for your organisation.
