You are warmly invited to the next instalment of WBS's Distinguished Lecture Series on 17 March in The Shard, featuring an in-depth conversation with the CEO of Solstar International and former Member of Parliament in Singapore, Professor Inderjit Singh Dhaliwal. The evening will be moderated by Professor James Hayton, Chair of Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Warwick and Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at WBS.

Professor Inderjit Singh Dhaliwal CEO, Serial Entrepreneur, Former Member of Parliament, Investor, Author, and Educator

Professor Inderjit Dhaliwal has been the CEO of Solstar International (Singapore) Pte Ltd since 2007, a home appliances and consumer electronics brand, which today sells in many parts of Asia and Africa. He is also a co-founder of a recently started tech company, Singapore Graphene Technology Pte Ltd.

Inderjit, an engineer by training, worked at Texas Instruments for 13 years before founding the semiconductor technology unicorn United Test and Assembly Center in 1998, listed on SGX in 2005. Over the past 20 years, he launched several successful startup companies including a tech company with operations in the Silicon Valley.

Inderjit served as a 4-term Member of Parliament in Singapore, Deputy Government Whip, and Chairman of the GPC for Finance and Trade & Industry Ministries, championing and advocating for innovation, entrepreneurship and SME-friendly policies.

He was a Board of Trustees Member at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) for 20 years and chaired NTUitive, NTU's innovation company. Previously Co-president of the World Entrepreneurship Forum, Inderjit is now President of the Global Startup Committee at the World Business Angel Investment Forum (WBAF).

Inderjit holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from NTU, an MBA from Strathclyde University, and a Doctorate from Amity University. He authored "The Art and Science of Entrepreneurship" and currently lectures at NTU on entrepreneurship.

Vice-Provost and Chair of the Faculty of Social Sciences - Professor of Innovation and Human Resource Management (Warwick Business School)

Professor James Hayton's research focuses on how human resource management practices foster organizations' capacity for entrepreneurship and strategic renewal. In a second stream I focus on the influence of cultural and psychological factors on entrepreneurial behavior.
