Warwick Business School is excited to announce that applications are now open for members of the military community to win a free place on one of its world-class courses worth up to £67,860.
In partnership with Heropreneurs, a charity that supports the business ventures of the Armed Forces community, WBS is offering members of the military community the opportunity to win a full scholarship for one of the School’s world-class MBA programmes.
The award aims to support the business ventures or innovative projects of serving or ex-military personnel, reservists and their family members, providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to excel.
Andy Lockett, Professor of Strategy & Entrepreneurship and Dean of WBS, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Heropreneurs for the eighth consecutive year.
“The men and women who have come through Heropreneurs and taken our courses have brought with them impressive skills and an aptitude for leadership and innovation. To those qualities, we can add the chance to learn the latest business thinking and research from our world-class academics.”
The Heropreneurs scholarship has been a transformative opportunity for many, including last year’s winner, Mike Wilmot.
The Armed Forces veteran, who served in Afghanistan and set a Guinness World Record for the highest game of tag rugby ever played while climbing Mount Everest, won a 100 per cent scholarship to study for an Executive MBA at WBS London at The Shard.
He said: “I wanted to use the MBA to shape my current work at Helsing, the defence AI company, and I’m already bringing the learning into my day-to-day decision-making there. The opportunity to apply MBA lessons to a start-up firm is vast.”
In addition to Mike, two runners-up secured substantial scholarships. George McCrea, of the Corps of Royal Engineers, who works in the field of data analytics, visualisations and business insights, was awarded a 75 per cent scholarship to join the Global Online MBA (London). And Clare Otridge, who leads Grounded Research, a specialist research agency, won a scholarship for the Executive Diploma in Behavioural Science at WBS London.
Applications for the Heropreneurs Award are open until April 27. The selection process includes a screening phase, interviews, and a final assessment by a panel of judges. The winners will be announced in July, with an awards ceremony at WBS London at The Shard on November 3.
The award offers a 100 per cent scholarship for the winner, with significant scholarships for runners-up. These scholarships can be used for any of the School’s MBA programmes, including the Global Online MBA, which has been ranked second in the UK and third in the world in the Financial Times’ Global Online MBA ranking, and the Executive MBA, rated eighth in Europe and 15th in the world by higher education analysts QS.
Dean Lockett added: “We believe that the knowledge and experience gained through an MBA helps transform ambitious and talented individuals into entrepreneurial, creative, and effective leaders. We look forward to welcoming the next cohort of Heropreneurs and supporting them in their journey to make a significant impact in business and society.”
