High flyers: Warwick Business School has consulted industry in designing the new Master's courses
Warwick Business School has launched three new Master's courses in Accounting, Sustainability and Fintech and revamped its Master's for the consulting industry.
Aimed at addressing the evolving demands of the business world and equipping students with cutting-edge skills, the new courses are MSc Accounting & Financial Management, MSc Accounting & Sustainability, and MSc Financial Technology.
Additionally, the MSc Business with Consulting course has been updated to better prepare students for a career in today's consulting.
Ross Ritchie, Professor of Operations Management and Associate Dean (Postgraduate Business and Management Programmes), said: “We are thrilled to introduce these new Master's programmes and the revamped MSc Business with Consulting course.
“As a world-leading business school we are constantly talking to financial institutions and companies working in financial markets to develop new courses to meet their needs and prepare our students with the necessary skills.
“Top firms like Deloitte, Goldman Sachs and PwC want graduates equipped with the latest research and able to help in the drive for sustainable business and accounting practices.
“We are for the Change Makers and want to encourage our students to make business become a power for good, helping society to meet the challenges of climate change and the opportunities that technological advances like generative AI bring.”
The MSc Accounting & Financial Management course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and aims to bridge the gap between theory and practical financial management, preparing graduates for roles in both fields.
The MSc Accounting & Sustainability course is a pioneering programme that integrates traditional accounting practices with sustainability principles.
This course reflects the growing importance of sustainability in business operations and aims to produce graduates who can navigate the complexities of sustainable financial practices.
The MSc Financial Technology course addresses the rapid advancements in fintech and has been developed by the School’s world-leading Gillmore Centre for Financial Technology research centre.
It combines the world-class research produced by the centre’s academics with industry insights to bring students up to date on topics such as blockchain, digital currencies, DeFi, AI applications, and financial data analytics.
Alex Stremme, Professor of Finance and Associate Dean (Postgraduate Finance Programmes) said: “Sustainability is no longer a niche area; it is a critical component of business strategy. Our new MSc Accounting & Sustainability course will equip students with the expertise to integrate sustainability into accounting practices, making them valuable assets for any organisation.
“And our new MSc Accounting & Financial Management programme will bring students up to date with the latest tools and knowledge to excel in their chosen career.”
The MSc Business with Consulting course has been revamped to include new research and updated content that reflect the latest trends and practices in the consulting industry from leadership and strategy analysis to the fundamentals of economic behaviour and quantitative methods.
Professor Ritchie added: “The fintech industry is growing at an unprecedented rate, and there is high demand for professionals who understand both finance and technology. The MSc Financial Technology course will prepare our students to be at the forefront of this exciting field.
“The MSc Business with Consulting course now offers a more hands-on approach, with practical projects and case studies that simulate real-world consulting scenarios.
“We have listened to our partners in the consulting industry and added the components they need to tackle the challenges of today’s business world.
“The revamped course along with our three new Master’s programmes align our teaching with the needs of the finance and consulting industries, giving graduates great opportunities to progress.”
