Top of the pops: Undergraduate students gave WBS top marks in the National Student Survey

For the third year running Warwick Business School is the top ranked Russell Group business school for students responding positively about their course experience in the 2024 National Student Survey.

Student responses also placed WBS top of the Russell Group universities for management degrees, which includes its BSc Management and BSc International Management, and second among the 24 research intensive universities for Accounting and Finance, which covers the School’s BSc Accounting & Finance course.

Undergraduate students at UK universities were asked for their views on academic support, teaching, student voice and much more, with WBS among the top three Russell Group schools for almost all of the categories.

Additionally, WBS has shown improvement in all but two categories, boasting 90 per cent satisfaction in teaching, 88 per cent in learning opportunities, 92 per cent for academic support, and 91 per cent for organisation and management.

Almost 95 per cent of students were positive about the learning resources at WBS, while 85 per cent responded positively about student voice and 82 per cent for assessment and feedback.

Andy Lockett, Dean of WBS and Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, said: “We are immensely proud that our hard work has been reflected in student feedback, as we always strive to improve our teaching and services to the best of our ability.

“It is especially rewarding to see the appraisal of our staff and their work in academic support and teaching. The student voice clearly echoes that our courses are some of the best in the country.

“WBS is for the Change Maker with a culture that invites students to be bold, curious, open-minded and always striving for excellence.”

Campus life at a world leading research University

Undergraduates have benefited from huge investment in the Warwick campus, with the recent £22.5 million refurbishment of the Arts Centre making it the largest of its type in the Midlands.

A new £50 million Sport and Wellness Hub houses a 700-square-metre climbing wall that is used by the British Olympic team, a 12-lane 25-metre swimming pool complete with a movable floor, a state-of-the-art gym, studio spaces, squash and netball courts, and outdoor pitches.

A £4 million upgrade of the five-storey university library, which holds one million printed volumes and 15.5km of archives, has enhanced its service with 144 full-time equivalent staff and more than 3,000 study places.

Mark Johnson, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programmes and Professor of Operations Management, said: “It’s thrilling to see that students value our work so highly. We aim to foster a positive experience for students in all aspects of our business school.

“Students clearly agree that our courses are among the best in the country. Our rankings in Management and Accounting and Finance will hopefully convince prospective students that we offer a fantastic student experience. It is proof that our efforts have paid off – but we will continue to strive for further improvements in all areas for the years to come.”
