How did WBS CareersPlus support you whilst you were at Warwick Business School?
WBS CareersPlus provided me with invaluable support both during the programme and even after its completion by assigning me a coach to whom I could reach out to with any queries. WBS also offered personalised career coaching and access to networking opportunities. The team helped me refine my CV, teaching me the importance of tailoring it for each job application, and they also enhanced my interview skills.
This was a huge confidence booster as I ventured into new career opportunities, particularly since I was making the leap from Peru to the London job market. It was just what I needed to successfully navigate this career transition.
What’s changed for you career-wise since completing your MBA? Was your MBA a contributing factor in this? If so, how?
Since completing my MBA, my career has taken a significant turn. Previously, my entire work experience was rooted in the financial services sector, specifically in the insurance industry within the Peruvian market. The MBA opened doors to various industries I was interested in, ultimately leading me to land a job in a tech company in London.
This transition allowed me to leverage my transferable skills in a new and exciting field. The programme was crucial in this transition, hosting events with various industries that helped me understand them better and explore new career possibilities.
What were your career aims when applying for the MBA? Has it helped you achieve them?
When I applied for the MBA, my main career goal was to expand my network and seek international job opportunities. Having worked solely in the financial services sector, where I had grown quite comfortable, I was eager to step out of my comfort zone and explore new environments and opportunities across different industries, applying my transferable skills. I was particularly interested in roles within tech and other dynamic fields.
The MBA was crucial in helping me achieve this by equipping me with the skills and confidence needed for the transition. During my time at WBS, I worked on consulting projects for major firms such as Jaguar Land Rover and Infosys Consulting. These experiences enabled me to provide growth recommendations to senior managers and C-suite executives, significantly enhancing my relationship management and analytical skills in the UK market. Additionally, the programme exposed me to a variety of industries through events and networking opportunities.
