My name is Jake, and I originally started BSc Accounting and Finance before switching to Management after completing the first year.
I am now in my final year and am about to graduate. I have also secured a place on the Deloitte Graduate Scheme in the Real Estate department, based in London. This will involve consulting and advising on projects around the UK.
The Foundation Year
The Foundation Year was a great middle step as I was able to learn the skills that I had not acquired from school and learnt how to complete coursework to a much higher level. As it’s a progressive step, you don’t feel under considerable pressure so you can also enjoy your first year of university. Without the Foundation Year I don’t think I would have gone to university so my life would have been massively different.
The WBS community
WBS has a strong community where staff are very approachable and engaging whilst students are sociable and very driven. Without all the great people at Warwick I would not have had so much fun or be as successful.
I used WBS CareersPlus throughout my time here and the team were extremely helpful in helping me with my career plans.
I was part of the Warwick Rugby team which helped me to develop various skills, including team work, communication and leadership skills.
Advice for future Foundation Year students
Make the most of the great opportunity that you’ve been given. My life has been completely changed by coming to Warwick and I now realise how lucky I was to be given a chance. The first year of university is fun and should be enjoyed but don’t forget the reason you are here and the faith the staff have shown needs to be repaid.
