Tell us a bit about yourself

I'm Shrinjay Jaruhar, and I specialise in driving innovation within Vodafone Group's Mobile Network Strategy and Architecture. My role focuses on the adoption of cutting-edge technologies like Satellites and 5G, leading Digital Transformation initiatives, and crafting effective operating models for Vodafone's European markets, while also advising Vodacom Africa. Outside of work, I'm married, father to a four-year-old daughter and a morning runner.

Why did you ultimately choose Warwick Business School for your Executive MBA?

I chose Warwick Business School (WBS) for my Executive MBA due to a combination of factors. Firstly, WBS has a strong reputation and the positive experiences shared by alumni I know were highly influential. I was particularly drawn to the calibre of the faculty and alumni, as well as the robust industry connections WBS offered. Secondly, the programme's structure was ideal for me. The monthly four-day intensive on-campus sessions at Warwick allowed for focused learning and a true university experience, which I felt was essential for absorbing new knowledge. The Organisational Behaviour and Leadership modules equipped me with better skills to manage people and workplace dynamics. I now apply these skills to motivate teams and drive positive impact within the company. Modules such as Strategic Advantage and Digital Transformation have enhanced my ability to develop future strategies and operating models for the mobile networks. The Financial Management module has also instilled greater confidence in my handling of financial matters, both professionally and personally.

Furthermore, the networking and experience-sharing opportunities with fellow students from both London and Warwick have been instrumental for me to become a confident leader. These interactions have broadened my perspective and strengthened my ability to navigate complex challenges within my work area.

How do you find the work/life balance?

Balancing a full-time career, Executive MBA and family life was undoubtedly a challenge at the outset. However, I found that establishing a structured schedule was crucial to manage my time effectively. I implemented a routine of dedicated work hours, followed by focused family time, and then study sessions in the evening. This required meticulous planning, often one to two weeks in advance, to ensure I could meet all my commitments. Through this process, I discovered my ability to maximise time and prioritise what truly matters. The Executive MBA experience has instilled in me a belief that I can achieve more than I previously thought possible, which has been incredibly empowering and has prepared me for future challenges.

Do you have any advice for anyone currently thinking about studying for an Executive MBA?

If you're considering an Executive MBA, my strongest advice is to embrace the experience fully. It's a transformative journey that will significantly expand your knowledge, regardless of your current expertise. Key to success is active engagement: learn from your diverse cohort, diligently complete all pre-readings, actively participate in lectures, and dedicate your full effort to assignments. Each of these elements contributes to a richer understanding and enhances your effectiveness. Also be prepared for challenges in balancing work, study, and family life. It's essential to schedule well-deserved breaks to maintain your well-being. Proactive planning is also crucial, especially when it comes to assignments – start early, as time will inevitably fly.
