Accelerator MBA (2024 - 2026)

Tell us a bit about yourself

As an overseas student hailing from Lebanon, my academic journey began by earning my undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Mechanical Engineering, back in 2016 from the Lebanese American University (LAU). I joined Nesma, one of the largest leading companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which focuses mainly on construction but also has a diversified conglomerate, offering a varied line of business.

I'm someone who thrives on challenges and continuous learning. I am currently working in the Project Support Department focusing mainly on budget control and the implementation of  digital transformation in the forty year old business.

Why did you choose Warwick Business School for your MBA?

I chose Warwick Business School (WBS) because of its outstanding reputation in the business world and its strong focus on the practical, real-world application of business concepts. Overall, pursuing an MBA at this prestigious institution, which is part of a Russell Group university, provides a high quality of education, and holds a strong reputation, thus this strategic investment can lead to career prospects in the future. In addition, WBS was able to grab my attention, particularly by offering the MBA programme at The Shard, as it makes it more convenient for international students like me to travel to London. The Accelerator MBA's focus on strategic leadership, innovation, and digital transformation aligns perfectly with my career aspirations to become a remarkable Change Maker.

How are you finding the blended learning format of the Accelerator MBA?

The blended learning format of the Accelerator MBA provides the flexibility I need to balance my professional and academic commitments as well as my personal life. The combination of online learning and on-campus sessions has enhanced my learning experience, allowing me to learn at my own pace while also delving deep into the subject matter. The online resources are comprehensive, and the in-person sessions are intensive and highly interactive, taking place over 3-4 days every six weeks. This setup encourages deep discussions and connections with my fellow students. The diverse mix of students in the cohort has been a major plus. I have found it very easy to connect with my classmates in this close-knit group. There are 27 students in the class from 11 different countries, which helps foster fast connections with my colleagues. I am proud to be part of the first Accelerator MBA cohort.

What elements of the programme do you value the most and why?

I find many aspects of this programme valuable. First, the programme provides a global perspective. These opportunities will enable me to collaborate with experts on an international level and gain valuable insights into different business environments. Secondly, the diverse modules are well-designed, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application. These modules cover a wide range of topics and will equip me with a strong understanding of business management and effective problem-solving skills. Additionally, WBS offers its alumni the opportunity to attend up to two elective modules alongside current MBA students free of charge. Lastly, the programme provides personalised career guidance, including workshops, coaching, and online resources, to help us achieve our full potential and career goals during and after completing the MBA.

Tell us about the community at Warwick Business School.

The community at WBS is incredibly supportive and diverse. My cohort includes professionals from various industries and different countries, offering a rich cross-cultural collaborative learning environment. The broader global community of Warwick alumni is also very active, social, and informative which helps professional growth and opportunities. WBS makes sure to organise events, such as the Summer Reception and the Christmas Party, to ensure a robust and solid network between all its alumni.

In addition to that, the staff are very friendly and down to earth. They always ask our opinion to enhance their services as they believe in continuous improvement and aim higher every single day. Whether it’s online, by always being quick and responsive, or in a face-to-face session, they ensure they provide what’s necessary for each one of us to be comfortable throughout our journey, making us feel valued.

What do you hope to get out of our programme?

I hope to gain a deeper understanding of global business dynamics and enhance my leadership and entrepreneurial skills. I aim to leverage the knowledge and network gained through this programme to drive innovation and growth in my current role and future endeavours. I am looking forward to living an unforgettable experience for which I will always be grateful, and thankful that WBS chose me to be part of.

How do you find the work/life balance?

Balancing work, personal life, and studies for the MBA has been challenging but manageable. Pursuing an MBA is a dedication that you have to stay committed to no matter what. As you get more experienced at work and through your MBA, you learn to adjust your time effectively by prioritising your tasks. Lastly, when some of my cohort have experienced unplanned circumstances, the WBS faculty have been very understanding and supportive.

How has SmartStage been valuable in your MBA teaching? Have there been any benefits for you?

SmartStage has significantly improved the interactive aspects of my learning experience by bridging the gap between online and on-campus learning, making the remote sessions feel more connected and impactful. This virtual reality environment, which WBS was the first to utilise, has made remote sessions more interesting, enabling complex concepts to be simplified, so the idea can be easily digested.

Do you have any advice for anyone currently thinking about studying for an MBA?

For those considering an MBA, I would advise you to research the programme first to be able to understand how it aligns with both your career goals and personal circumstances. Apply only when you are prepared to invest time, and effort to get the most out of the programme. Next, once you get “IN” take full advantage of the resources, and networking opportunities available to you from both cohorts and faculty members to maximise your learning experience. Much like human life, obtaining an MBA marks the start of an unforgettable journey that only happens once. Be prepared to create lasting memories and write your own story. Always remember, that pursuing an MBA is a significant yet rewarding investment. Wishing you the best of luck!
